Program Description
Provide an opportunity to learn from transplant experts regarding the care of heart, lung, kidney, and multi-organ transplants from evaluation to life-long management; allow transplant professionals to highlight their work and research within the multidisciplinary team to optimize and improve the care of this complex patient population
Target Audience
This activity is intended for providers in all specialties. Everyone is invited to attend.
Learning Objectives
Recognize clinical signs, symptoms, and risk factors of end-stage heart, lung, and kidney disease to support timely and appropriate referrals for thoracic and abdominal organ transplantation.
Apply current evidence-based criteria, including indications and contraindications, to evaluate and refer candidates for thoracic and abdominal organ transplant listing.
Implement a multidisciplinary evaluation process for transplant candidates, incorporating diagnostic testing, specialist consultations, and transplant committee deliberations.
Differentiate between types of thoracic and abdominal organ transplants and manage perioperative care using current best practices and emerging technologies.
Manage postoperative care of transplant recipients by integrating updated clinical guidelines, immunosuppressive therapies, and device-based interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
