Evidence-Based Treatment of Low Back Pain
Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate common spinal and non-spinal causes of low back pain using history, physical exam findings, and awareness of psychosocial contributors.
- Apply evidence-informed diagnostic strategies for low back pain, including appropriate use and limitations of imaging (e.g., plain radiographs) and recognition of key conditions such as disc herniation, spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis.
- Develop comprehensive management plans for low back pain that integrate active rehabilitation approaches, minimize ineffective passive treatments, and address behavioral and psychosocial factors influencing pain and disability.
