May 30-31, 2025 Transforming Maternal Health: Innovations in Cardiac, Critical, and Mental Care

Fairfax, VA US
May 30, 2025 to May 31, 2025

Overview

Program Description

Join us for an engaging conference focused on advancing the skills and knowledge of healthcare providers in managing complex maternal health conditions, including cardiac complications, obstetric emergencies, and severe mental health disorders during pregnancy. This event will highlight evidence-based strategies and best practices for improving maternal care, integrating patient and family perspectives, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. Together, we will work to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, address health disparities, and ensure safer outcomes for pregnant women and their families.

Simulation Lab

As part of this course, we are integrating high-fidelity simulation scenarios that will reinforce the specific topics initially covered in lectures.  These will be run at our nationally recognized simulation center (Inova Center for Advanced Medical Simulation – ICAMS) and facilitated by our critical care faculty.  Additionally, we have partnered with national patient advocacy organizations to bring the patient perspective to our simulations.  All cases are based on actual obstetric critical care events and will be followed by panel discussions with the patients who experienced them.  In addition to these team-based cases, there will also be dedicated time for participants to do hands-on practice for multiple interventions to include point of care ultrasound, operative hemorrhage management, intraosseous access and intrauterine tamponade instrument placement among others.  The goal of all of this is to review key concepts of critical care and then provide the opportunity to quickly put them into practice to help solidify the learning objectives.

Conference Format

This event is taking place in-person only.
