Director of Mass General Brigham Women’s Heart Health Program Director, Cardiovascular Medicine Section, Massachusetts General Hospital Ellertson Family Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine Assistant Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School Dr. Nandita Scott, MD, FACC, FASE, is the Director of Cardiovascular Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and leads the Mass General Brigham Women’s Heart Health Program. Her research focuses on sex-specific cardiovascular disorders, particularly spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and cardio-obstetrics. Dr. Scott earned her medical degree from the University of Ottawa in Canada, where she also completed her Internal Medicine and Cardiology residencies, serving as Chief Resident in both programs. She pursued further specialization in echocardiography and clinical research through a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2007, Dr. Scott co-founded the MGH Corrigan Women’s Heart Health Program, which has since grown into a leading clinical, educational, and research initiative. She later established the MGH Cardiovascular Disease and Pregnancy Program, building a vital collaboration between cardiology, maternal-fetal medicine, and obstetric anesthesia— transforming care for pregnant individuals with heart disease. Dr. Scott was a founding investigator of the HOPE pilot study in partnership with St. Luke’s in Kansas City, MO, examining outcomes in women with heart disease during pregnancy. She serves on the steering committee for the national NHLBI-funded HOPE study, which spans 36 sites across the U.S. Additionally, she is the site principal investigator for the REBIRTH study, a multicenter NHLBI-funded randomized controlled trial evaluating bromocriptine in patients with peripartum cardiomyopathy and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) < 40%. Dr. Scott is also a co-investigator in the G-SCAD study, which explores genetic associations with SCAD through whole-genome exome sequencing. She plays a leadership role in the international iSCAD registry, an expert collaboration dedicated to improving understanding and treatment of SCAD. Her contributions have earned numerous accolades, including the 2020 Women’s Heart Research Award from the Massachusetts Medical Society. She was recently named the inaugural Director of the Mass General Brigham Women’s Heart Health Program and selected for the first cohort of the Mass General Brigham Leadership Program.
