In Memory of Dr. Herbert Golomb
Herbert Golomb, MD, Dermatologist was born and raised in Brighton Beach (Brooklyn), New York, first generation American to his proud parents who emigrated from eastern Europe. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn. During an internship at The Ohio State University, Dr. Golomb first became interested in Dermatology. His residency was in Brooklyn, except for a stint at Skin and Cancer at New York University which he described as “the best experience ever for a future dermatologist.”
Dr. Golomb worked a variety of jobs in the early years of his medical career, including the Food and Drug Administration, private practice, and the US Public Health Service, where he was a Dermatologist at the Outpatient Clinic on 4th Street in Southwest Washington, DC. He went on to become a member of the Board of Directors at Falls Church Medical Center and an affiliated physician at Fairfax Hospital, today, Inova Fairfax Hospital. He remained allied with the hospital for over 50 years.
We are grateful to Dr. Golomb for his 50+ years of service to our community as a dedicated physician and practicing Dermatologist at Inova Fairfax. Dr. Golomb loved his family, his patients and Dermatology and he was committed to continuing education in what he believed was the “Queen of Specialties.”
