I am currently the director of clinical research at Inova Schar Adult Sickle Cell Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. I am employed by Inova Health system serving as the clinical director of research at Inova Schar Adult Sickle Cell Center, providing comprehensive care to patients with sickle cell disease as well as lead research efforts in sickle cell disease. I also work with Inova internal medicine residents and medical students from University of Virginia. I am very interested and working to develop a robust research program within the Inova Schar Adult Sickle Cell Program, currently serving as an investigator in a phase II clinical trial as well as initiating our own clinical research protocols and dissemination of our findings via publications and academic meetings. Sickle Cell disease impacts many of our patients in the Northern Virginia area and I am hopeful that our center will not only provide much needed comprehensive care but also contribute greatly to the growing need for more advanced therapies and clinical research in sickle cell disease.
