Sharmaine M. McCoy is a board certified acute care nurse practitioner at Inova Schar Heart and Vascular (ISHV) at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Women’s Cardiovascular health. Sharmaine has worked at Inova since 2005, transitioning from bedside registered nurse (RN) to nurse practitioner. 

Sharmaine has a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Old Dominion University, a Master of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hampton University. She is a member of Sigma Theta, International Nursing Society. A member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc Tau Chapter, Hampton, VA, National Black Nurses Association, and DNPs of Color.

Sharmaine is President of her church’s Health & Wellness Ministry, leading community outreach efforts to increase health literacy regarding disease prevention and management. She is a member of the ISHV Committee on Equity, Education, and Outreach, leading Inova team members to participate in community outreach efforts with our community partners.
