October 8, 2024 6th Annual Healthcare Disparities Conference

This half‐day symposium for healthcare professionals will address the role cultural humility and ally-ship play in the care of patients with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Invited speakers will discuss local, regional, and national approaches to overcoming barriers to person centered care. Participants will have the opportunity to hear colleagues and community partners discuss their experiences with inequity, opportunities for self‐awareness and empathy, and strategies to improve the healthcare experience for patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Target Audience

The content of this activity is applicable to healthcare providers in all medical specialties. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify and increase awareness around healthcare disparities related to race, socioeconomic status, and intersecting identities.
  2. Describe the potential impact of practicing cultural humility to create brave spaces for patients.

  3. Explain the affects of addressing upstream social drivers of health on patient outcomes.
