Sepsis Coordinator, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital

John Lawrence, BSN, RN, NPD-BC, is Sepsis Coordinator at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, where he has worked for almost 10 years. For the past 8 years, John has been involved in a variety quality improvement initiatives focused on population health across Inova Health System, including for stroke, sepsis, pneumonia and heart failure. John chairs the Nursing Research & EBP Council at IMVH and has contributed to published research on nursing engagement with social drivers of health and the impact of the CMS sepsis early management bundle. John’s awards include “Innovator of the Year” runner up for data-driven care from Health Quality Innovators (2019); Inova Nursing Excellence Award for New Knowledge, Innovations and Improvements (2021); “Trish” Seifert Innovation Award (2022); and Virginia Nurses Association “40 Under 40” Award (2023).
