William Figg, Sr.
Dr. Figg received a BS in Pharmacy from Samford University and a doctoral pharmacy degree from Auburn University. He completed a clinical internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital and a fellowship in Drug Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also received an MBA from a combined program at Columbia University and the London Business School program. He holds honorary degrees from Georgetown College and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Figg joined the National Cancer Institute, the National Institutes of Health, in 1992. He is Chief of the GU Malignancy Branch and Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Program. He is also co-director of the Office of Translational Resources and Associate Director of the Center for Cancer Research. Dr. Figg has over 860 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Figg is an adjunct professor of Medicine at Columbia University in New York and adjunct professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Figg’s research is focused on drug development of novel anticancer agents, prostate cancer, pharmacogenetics, and pharmacokinetics.
