I have been the Medical Director of the Latin American Society of Chagas since 2012, and in this role I screen, treat, and follow Latin American immigrants with Chagas disease in my non-profit clinic.  I raise awareness of Chagas disease in both the at-risk community and the medical community that provides care for these individuals.  I have collaborated in multiple research projects about Chagas disease seroprevalence and Chagas cardiomyopathy, have been part of multiple writing groups about the disease and the need for better awareness.  I have spoken nationally and internationally about Chagas disease. 

In addition, I am the Regional Director of Echocardiography for the Medstar North hospitals, where I oversee operations of the echo labs at 4 hospitals, including quality improvement projects across the region.  I am the lead structural echocardiographer for the Structural Heart program at Union Memorial Hospital, supporting the LAAO, percutaneous mitral and tricuspid valve repair/placement protocols.
