Katherine Bowers, PhD, MPH
Katherine Bowers PhD, MPH is an epidemiologist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Her research focuses on exposures and conditions in pregnancy and how they affect neurodevelopmental and metabolic outcomes in the offspring. Primary studies include a longitudinal birth cohort of families with high sociodemographic risk participating in a home visiting program in Cincinnati as well as the Transgenerational Effects on Adult Morbidity (TEAM) study, discussed today. The TEAM study includes offspring of women who experienced pre-pregnancy diabetes between 1978 and 1995 and aims to determine how timing and variation in exposure to dysglycemia in pregnancy contributes to offspring metabolic, cardiac and cognitive outcomes in the young adult offspring.
