Dr. Battarbee is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician and clinical researcher with a specific interest in the diagnosis and management of diabetes in pregnancy. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she serves as the Clinical Director of the Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic. Currently she also leads multiple NIH-funded clinical trials in pregnancy at UAB including a randomized trial of glycemic management after corticosteroids in gestational and type 2 diabetes, a trial of intensive glycemic targets for gestational diabetes, and a study evaluating cardiovascular disease risk after high-risk pregnancies (including those with diabetes). Additionally she serves as the Assistant Director for OB Research at UAB and an active member of the UAB Institutional Review Board.
