Alyce Thomas is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has chaired two dietetic practice groups (Diabetes and Women’s Health) and the Evidence-based Practice Committee and was a Professional Issues Delegate in the House of Delegates. Her activities with the Academy also included member the Evidence-based Criteria Development Task Force, Honors Committee, and the Evidence-based Analysis GDM and Obesity, Reproduction and Pregnancy workgroups.

She is a current board member of the Diabetes Leadership Council. Her past appointments included the Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s National Institute of Child Health Development Advisory Council, and the National Institutes of Health – Consensus Development Panel on Diagnosing Gestational Diabetes.

Her publications include: editor of the Academy’s Health Professionals Guide to Nutrition, Diabetes and Pregnancy; and co-author of the pregnancy and diabetes chapters in the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists’ The Art and Science of Diabetes Care and Education; as well as a contributor to several other books and publications. She has presented at numerous conferences is known as a specialist in diabetes, nutrition and pregnancy.
