Menachem Miodovnik, MD
From 2003 Dr. Miodovnik was the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) in DC and professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. In 2014 after retirement from MWHC he joined the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) at the National Institute of Health (NIH). Until his second retirement in 2021 he was a Program Scientist for the Global Network for Women's and Children's Health Research and program scientist for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network in the Pregnancy and Perinatology Branch (PPB) of the NICHD, NIH. In addition, he carried a portfolio of basic and clinical research grants.
Through the years Dr. Miodovnik has been the recipient of federal and industry grants to fund his basic and clinical research. His work is published in nationally and internationally recognized peer reviewed journals and he presented his research results at conventions of notable scientific societies. His research interests included medical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy with emphasis on Gestational and pre-gestational Diabetes.
Prior to moving to Washington DC, Dr. Miodovnik was a Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and served as the Vice Chair in the Department of Ob/Gyn at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center (1999-2003).
Dr. Miodovnik is board certified in Ob/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine and received his Ob/Gyn medical degree at Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. He pursued postgraduate training in Ob/Gyn at Drexel University in Hahnemann Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He completed a fellowship in MFM at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine in 1982. He remained at UC for 20 years where he attained a professorship in Ob/Gyn and conducted NIH sponsored research
