Objectives: 

  1. Define brain death and distinguish it from other states of impaired consciousness, including coma and vegetative state. 
  2. Identify common causes and mechanisms leading to brain death, with emphasis on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  3. Recognize the clinical signs and confirmatory testing involving in the diagnosis of brain death. 
  4. Discuss Circulatory collapse in brain death
  5. Understand the process of brain death determination including legal and ethical implications
  6. Apply institutional protocols and procedures related to brain death testing and documentation
  7. Discuss the role of the trauma and critical care team in early identification, family communication, and multi-disciplinary coordination.
