Course Statement

The Urgent Care Procedure Course is a quarterly comprehensive program focusing on common urgent care procedures. The course includes the review of removal of foreign bodies, assessment of eye injuries, management of epistaxis, finger infections and injuries, and ring removals. Training on digital blocks, abscesses and techniques of wound closure includes hands-on didactic sessions. The wound closure skills session includes the evaluation of wounds, application of the appropriate method of wound repair, wound tape, adhesives, staples and sutures. Skills practice session include performing digital blocks, incision and drainage, medication injection, IV placement and wound closure with tape, adhesives, staples and various suturing techniques.

The Medical Society of Virginia is a member of the Southern States CME Collaborative, an ACCME Recognized Accreditor. Inova Health System Office of Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Southern States CME Collaborative to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Statement

The Inova Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) ™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Physicians may claim up to 6.0 credits in Type 1 CME on the Virginia Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required for renewal of an active medical license in Virginia.
