Description
The Responsible Conduct of Research is a Program Developed to support the requirements and ongoing conditions for federally funded investigators to receive and continue receiving federal funding for health research training grants and career development awards, federal funders (including NIH, DOD, and NSF) mandate all participants in training grants to receive training in RCR. The Belmont Report, released in 1979 by the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects in Biomedical and Behavioral Research, provides the ethical framework for the Federal Regulations designed to protect human research subjects. Federally funded investigators and clinical researchers participating in human subjects’ research need to maintain knowledge of the federal regulations, International Council for Harmonization (ICH) guidelines (including ICH E6(R2)), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards guidelines that apply to conducting clinical research. This program will additionally emphasize considerations for investigators conducting studies that include Children, Families, and Health Care Professionals that addresses new and emerging ethical considerations and good practice in the conduct of ethical research.
