Allison Markowsky, MD, MSHS

Dr. Markowsky is the Associate Chief for Community Hospital Medicine Programs within the Hospital Medicine Division at Children’s National and holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She works exclusively as a community pediatric and newborn hospitalist and spent over 7 years as the Medical Director at Mary Washington Healthcare overseeing two affiliated community hospitals in Fredericksburg and Stafford, Virginia. Her focus has been to provide excellent, high-value, equitable care to hospitalized newborns and children in the community hospital setting by facilitating access to resources and education, improving systems and processes, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
Dr. Markowsky has also been active in the AAP Section on Hospital Medicine (SOHM) and won the SOHM Service Award in 2019 and the PHM Collaborative Impact Award in 2024 for her work with the Neonatal Hospitalist Subcommittee. She was the Co-Chair of that subcommittee for 6 years and was also part of the leadership team for the Community Hospitalist Subcommittee. She was selected in 2023 as the Community Hospitalist Representative on the AAP SOHM Executive Committee. Through these roles, she has worked to provide access to newborn education, simulation, and clinically relevant resources to facilitate the care of patients in the community hospital setting.
