Dr Bugbee is Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, California, USA

He is the Joint reconstruction fellowship director He also serves as medical director of the Shiley Center for Orthopaedic Research and Education.

Dr Bugbee’s clinical practice is focused on the treatment of complex cartilage problems and arthritis of the knee, hip and ankle, including the use of cartilage restoration and joint preservation techniques such as osteochondral transplantation, osteotomy as well as joint replacement.

Dr Bugbee’s research focus related to cartilage involves pathogenesis of osteoarthritis, design innovation and outcome of joint replacement, regenerative medicine, cartilage biology, tissue engineering and both basic science and clinical outcome of osteochondral allograft transplantation and joint preservation, for which he was awarded the 2015 Kappa Delta Award.
