Julia Richardson, LCSW
Julia Richardson (she/ her) is the Lead Licensed Mental Health Professional for the Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP). She is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker and is based at the Inova Kellar Center for the Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP).. She leads VMAP’s diverse team of Licensed Mental Health Providers across Virginia as well as the Northern Hub team comprised of child psychiatrists and care navigators. At VMAP she supports primary care providers caring for children and adolescents with mental health challenges: providing continuing medical education, consultation on patient care, resources lists, and outreach to bring awareness of the program’s offerings. She brings 15 years of experience in conducting mental health assessments and providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and groups. She has training and experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, trauma treatment, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention. She values the interdisciplinary approach that VMAP embodies and especially enjoys witnessing the positive impact of VMAP on primary care providers, patients, and their families.
