Kathryn (Katie) Scully is a seasoned healthcare professional with over 38 years of nursing experience, including 24 years at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (IFMC). Currently serving as a Patient Safety Manager, Katie is committed to fostering safe and high-quality patient care across the Inova Health System.

Katie has a diverse clinical background, having worked as a bedside nurse in critical care and perianesthesia settings before transitioning to education as a perianesthesia nurse educator. During her six years in clinical education, she authored several articles on perianesthesia care and spearheaded the development of a PACU fellowship program for the Inova Health System. Her leadership in quality improvement initiatives has helped promote best practices and enhance patient safety throughout her career.

In 2020, Katie returned to the bedside as part of the COVID-19 response team, an experience she considers one of the most rewarding in her career. Now, as a Patient Safety Manager, she continues to drive improvements in patient care and safety, playing a key role in shaping system-wide growth and innovation at Inova.

Katie's commitment to excellence in nursing and her passion for patient safety have made her a respected leader and advocate for continuous improvement in healthcare.
