Elizabeth (Ebbie) Stewart, MD, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Elizabeth A. (Ebbie) Stewart is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Mayo Clinic. She received her undergraduate degree in molecular biology from Vanderbilt University and her M.D. from Harvard Medical School. She is Board Certified in Ob Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinology. Her research focus centers on both basic science and clinical and translational research on uterine diseases, particularly uterine fibroids and adenomyosis. She has contributed to understanding many facets of fibroids including epidemiology, economics of fibroids and fibroid treatments, genetics, racial disparities, comparative effectiveness research, and developing new alternatives to hysterectomy. She also studies the long-term sequela of hysterectomy. Her work has been funded by NIH, AHRQ, PCORI, societies, and industry sources. She has published over 200 peer reviewed manuscripts and books and currently leads the NICHD-funded COEQUaL Specialized Center for Health Disparities and Uterine Fibroids.
