Dorothy Sit, M.D. received her Medical Degree at the University of Toronto, School of Medicine in Toronto, Canada. She completed residencies in Family Medicine and General Psychiatry, and a Psychopharmacology Fellowship. Dr. Sit is Associate Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. She is past president of the Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR.org) which is an international scientific non-profit organization devoted to promoting research and knowledge about the effects of light on the organism and the chronobiology of psychiatric as well as other medical disorders. She is Director of the Perinatal Mental Health Fellowship, Medical Director of the Obstetrics and Psychiatry Compass Collaborative Care, and Course Director of Grand Rounds of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She studies the phenomenology, pathophysiology and pharmacologic responses of women with major mood disorders in the perinatal period. She investigates novel somatic therapeutics and has strong interests in understanding the effects of bright light therapy and chronotherapeutics for treatment of bipolar depression, adolescents with depression and depressed persons with epilepsy.
