Jacques Abramowicz, MD
Dr. Jacques S. Abramowicz is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago. He received his MD from the Sackler School of Medicine, and did his residency in obgyn at Sapir Medical Center, Sackler School of Medicine. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with special training in Ob/Gyn ultrasound (in London, UK, with Stuart Campbell) and Maternal Fetal Medicine, as a special fellow in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at EVMS, Norfolk, VA. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society (AGOS). He was the United States (AIUM) councilor on the Board of the World Federation for Ultrasound, Chair of its Safety committee, treasurer and President-elect. He was the Chair of the Illinois Section of ACOG. He is the past Director of Ob/Gyn Ultrasound and Founder and past Director of the Fetal and Neonatal Care Center at the University of Chicago. He is on the WHO task force on Non-Ionizing radiation guidelines and a member of the International Commission for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). He is the author of more than 230 peer-reviewed and 450 other articles, books, chapters and presentations. He was the editor of the book Ultrasound in the First Trimester, a Comprehensive Guide, first published in 2016 with a 2021 second edition and co-editor of 3 books. His special interests are prenatal diagnosis of fetal anomalies, screening for and early diagnosis of ovarian cancer, 3D/4D ultrasound, bioeffects and safety of ultrasound.
