Dr Aoife Egan is an Associate Professor of Medicine and a Consultant in the Division of Endocrinology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr Egan received her medical and doctoral degrees from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She completed her internal medicine residency in the Mater Hospital in Dublin and Mayo Clinic Arizona. She completed an Endocrine fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and underwent further fellowship training at Mayo Clinic, Rochester.  She joined faculty at Mayo Clinic in 2020.

Dr Egan’s clinical and research focus is on diabetes before, during and after pregnancy. Her current research is supported by the NIH and the Mayo Clinic Elizabeth and Robert Strickland Career Development Award in Endocrinology. She is currently leading several clinical studies examining pancreatic islet function in women during and after pregnancy.
