Christine Field, MD, MPH

Christine Field, MD, MPH is an obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal fetal medicine physician at The Ohio State University. She attended the University of North Carolina for her undergraduate education, Master of Public Health, and OB/GYN residency. She then completed MFM fellowship at OSU. Her research interests include individual- and neighborhood-level social determinants of health, diabetes in pregnancy, peripartum cardiometabolic health, and utilization of pregnancy as a window for future health and for engagement in preventative care. Upon joining faculty at OSU in the MFM Division, she became a co-investigator for 1) NIH’s ECHO prospective longitudinal cohort examining the association between maternal cardiometabolic health in pregnancy and long-term child neurodevelopment; 2) PCORI’s DECIDE, a comparative effectiveness RCT investigating whether metformin in non inferior to insulin for the treatment of gestational diabetes. With funding through the NICHD and the OSU Institute for Population Research, she will additionally lead a mixed methods study to evaluate the barriers to and facilitators of cardiovascular health counseling and risk-reduction after a pregnancy affected by gestational diabetes.
