Chapy Venkatesan, MD, MS
Chapy Venkatesan, MD is an internal medicine hospitalist physician who currently serves as the Chief Quality and Safety Officer at Inova Health System. In this role, he oversees performance and strategy in clinical excellence across the health system and leads a team of subject matter experts in quality, safety, patient experience, regulatory readiness, and infection prevention. Prior to being selected for this role in 2019, Dr. Venkatesan served as the Vice Chair for Quality for the Department of Medicine at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus after having been the Internal Medicine Residency Site Program Director for rotating medicine residents. After participating in several quality initiatives at the hospital level, Dr. Venkatesan received a Masters of Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety from Northwestern University in 2016. After earning a degree in psychology from the University of Virginia, Dr. Venkatesan graduated from medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2000. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in 2004. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Venkatesan enjoys teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with a goal of helping people help people.
