Roxanne Kirsch, MD, MBE, FRCPC, FAAP
Dr. Roxanne Kirsch joined the Hospital for Sick Children in 2016. She is co-appointed to the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Division of Cardiac Critical Care, and the Department of Bioethics. In June 2023, Dr. Kirsch was appointed Chief for the Division of Cardiac Critical Care. In addition, she is Associate Chief of the Department of Perioperative Services for Equity, Diversity, Inclusiveness, Wellness and Faculty Development since 2020.
Dr. Kirsch grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada and upon completion of training was on staff in the cardiac ICU at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia prior to joining the SickKids team. She has completed a Master’s degree in Biomedical Ethics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kirsch’s academic work focuses on the ethical and social challenges of stopping advanced technologic therapies, end of life care, introduction of innovative therapies, and resource allocation and prioritization. Additionally, she works to educate clinicians and enhance their facility with ethical issues intendant to pediatric critical care and cardiology to improve patient care delivery.
