Brett Gustman, Athletic Trainer

Brett Gustman is a state-licensed and nationally-certified athletic trainer who joined Inova Sports Medicine in 2016. With nearly 20 years of experience, his goal is to provide comprehensive post-injury care, baseline concussion testing and education to athletes, parents and coaches within the community.
Brett graduated from West Virginia University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training. He earned a Master of Science degree in health education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2002 while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the football program. Upon the completion of his graduate studies, Brett served as intern athletic trainer in the NFL for the New York Jets during the 2002 season. Brett was hired in 2003 as the head athletic trainer at Fairfax High School in Virginia where he worked to establish concussion treatment guidelines, and baseline testing standards.
In 2010, Brett was named the Gatorade Secondary School Athletic Trainer of the Year as a testament to his work within the Fairfax County Public School System. As a result of his interest in concussion, Brett went into private practice with a primary care group as a certified athletic trainer specializing in concussion management prior to joining Inova.
Brett's professional experience also includes teaching college-level coursework and serving as an approved clinical instructor in the athletic training education programs at Middle Tennessee State and George Mason University.
Originally from New Jersey, Brett now calls Northern Virginia home and in his spare time enjoys skiing, off-roading, running and camping with his wife Cori, daughter Makayla and son Brandon.
