PERCITA L. ELLIS, MD, FAAP
Percita L. Ellis, MD, FAAP, is Board Certified Pediatrician, living in Rockbridge County, Virginia. Born in Washington, DC, she obtained a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, followed by her MD degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. She also served in the Army’s Medical Service Corps, and Medical Corps for 4 years. With an initial career goal of a Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Ellis completed an Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Florida. She then realized her enjoyment of Pediatrics as well, and proceeded to do a Pediatric Residency at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas. It was there that her interest in practicing in rural, underserved, or under accessed areas began.
Dr. Ellis’s career in Pediatrics with particular focus on Mental, Developmental, and Behavioral Health, has included practicing on military bases, Indian Health Service Corps, Summersville, WV, Marion County and Rockbridge County, Virginia. She is also active in the Virginia Chapter of the AAP, as Vice President on its Executive Board, Rural Co-Chair, and member of the School, Mental Health, Food Equity, DEI, and Advocacy Committees. In the National AAP, she serves on the Executive Committee of the Council of Community Pediatrics, serving as the Chair of its Rural Health SIG.
Her hobbies include photography and skydiving.
