Alex Krist, MD, MPH, has been part of the Inova community and Fairfax Family Practice since 1999, where he has taught family medicine residents and cared for his patients. He is also a Professor of Family Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University where he directs the community engaged research core for the Wright Regional CTSA hub and leads multiple projects with numerous community partners in Central, Eastern, and Northern Virginia to improve access to care, address health equity, and improve quality of care. Dr. Krist is a director of the Virginia Ambulatory Care Outcomes Research Network (ACORN), a collection of over 524 primary care practices, throughout Virginia that collaborate to do research that matters to primary care. Many Inova practices are key contributing members of ACORN. He was also a former member (2014-2021) and Chair (2020-2021) of the U.S Preventive Services Task Force and led the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's committee on Achieving Whole Health for Veterans and the Nation.
