Shaunte Anum-Addo, Shaunte Y. Anum-Addo, MD
Shaunte Anum-Addo graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Biology in 2007. She then completed her Medical Degree in 2011 at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. After completion of her medical degree, Dr. Anum-Addo began her residency training at Children’s National Hospital as a member of the Community Health Track (now known as the LAUNCH Track). In 2014, she joined the Goldberg Center for Community Pediatric Health and has been a full-time member of the faculty since that time. Dr. Anum-Addo is currently pursuing the completion of her Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Community Oriented Primary Care at George Washington University.
Dr. Anum-Addo’s clinical interest is increasing access to safe and effective reproductive healthcare in the pediatric setting. To that end, she has previously served as the Reproductive Health Lead for the Goldberg Centers from 2017 to 2019 and remains an active member of the Reproductive Health Champions team and provides care to parenting teens and their families through the Healthy Generations Program. She remains an active member of the Reproductive Health Team at THEARC and has participated in a 4- year longitudinal grant to create innovative ways of delivering reproductive healthcare to adolescents throughout DC.
Additionally, Dr. Anum-Addo is passionate about increasing minority representation within the pediatric pipeline and improving the experience of under-represented minorities in medicine. She has put this passion to work as founding member of the Section of Minority Health, Equity, and Inclusion within the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), in which she served as an executive committee member from 2016 to 2021. Dr. Anum-Addo currently serves as the Assistant Program Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Children’s National Hospital Pediatric Residency Program located in Washington DC. Through this role, she has combined her passions for strengthening the pipeline, trainee education, and addressing issues of equity and inclusivity in healthcare systems.
