Ramesh Singh, MB,BCh,BaO,LRCP&SI,MRCS,FACC
A cardiac surgeon who specializes in surgery of the thoracic aorta and robotic revascularization as well as mechanical circulatory support. During his time at Inova, he was instrumental in developing and growing the ECMO and Shock programs. He also created and leads the only robotic revascularization program in the Washington DC metro area. He is board certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery. Academically, he is an Assistant Professor for Medical Education of the University of Virginia. In addition to that, he is also a reviewer and active contributor to numerous medical journals and has written multiple book chapters. He is frequently invited to present nationally and internationally on cardiogenic shock & heart failure. In addition to this, he also serves as the Principle Investigator on several multi-center clinical trials as well as being the Surgical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program and Shock Program. He joined the Inova Medical Group with over 15 years of clinical experience.
Although born in Malaysia to immigrant parents, he eventually did his medical education at the Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland where he also started his surgical residency. He ultimately made his way to America where he completed his surgical residency at the University of Virginia and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado.
Outside the hospital, he is married with 3 kids, a dog, 2 rabbits, 2 horses, 2 cats and hopefully soon, 3 alpacas. He serves on the board of directors for 2 not for profits regional organizations.
