Rana Sharara-Chami, MD FAAP
I graduated with distinction from medical school at the American University of Beirut. I completed my
residency in Pediatrics 3 years later at North Carolina Children's hospital. I joined the Pediatric
Intensive Care fellowship program at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) for 3 years where I stayed on
as a faculty until I joined The American University of Beirut at the end of 2010. During my 11-year
appointment at AUBMC, I was heavily involved in medical education and building a simulation program
from scratch while fulfilling my responsibilities as residency program director. My research was mostly
in education and medical simulation but also in intensive care and general pediatrics. I was promoted
to Associate Professor in June of 2017. In August 2021, I joined the Inova L.J. Murphy Children's
Hospital as the PICU Medical Director, and I am now Associate Professor of Medical Education at the
University of Virginia.
