Brief Bio: Dr. Heidi Dalton has over 30 years of experience in critical care with a focus on extracorporeal support. She has founded and led ECMO programs from neonates through adults, authored over 150 publications, served as President and Conference Chair for the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) and is a sought-after speaker and advisor for programs around the world. She works with industry to improve technology and equipment for mechanical circulatory support. Her research centers around eliminating bleeding and thrombosis during ECMO and her work with the VCM device to refine anticoagulation management and how to use viscoelastic testing at the bedside is a current focus. She is the founder of the ECLS Virtual Advisors (EVA) group, which serves to provide 24/7 remote support for mechanical circulatory support patients and programs, increase educational offerings around the globe and program reviews both for new and established programs. Dr. Dalton provides service as the research and program development director for the Adult and Pediatric ECMO programs at INOVA Fairfax Medical Center in Virginia.
