Mary Louise Collins, MD

Dr. Collins was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. She received her B.S. in Biological Sciences and M. S. in Microbiology from the University of Maryland before obtaining her M. D. from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1988. She completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Since 1993, Dr. Collins has been the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and, since 1996, she has served as the Residency Program Director at GBMC. Presently, she is Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at GBMC, Chief Academic Officer and DIO and Director, GBMC Health Partners Specialty Practices. She is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Collins serves as a Trustee at Large for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is past-President of the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Collins is past Director-at-Large on the Board of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and served as Chair of its Inter-organizational Committee and Legislative Committee.
