Kathleen Russell-Babin, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, ACNS-BC
Dr. Kathleen Russell-Babin is the Vice President of Nursing Professional Practice for Inova Health System. Her career spans over thirty years in a variety of roles. She created and led Meridian Health’s Institute for Evidence-Based Care for over seven years, supporting 10 evidence-based practice (EBP)projects a year. She now leads a group of nurse scientists who have evolved the organization’s EBP into use of a formalized implementation science framework. Kathleen’s research interests are varied and have included projects in teaching in the affective domain, perioperative pressure injury risk, shared governance and more. In her career, she has been instrumental in securing over $950,000 in grant funds from state and commercial sources. Kathleen is certified as a Nurse Executive, Advanced and as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and has served in roles from staff nurse to chief nursing officer.
