Jacob Greenberg is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Duke University. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. During residency he completed a fellowship in Surgical Education and earned a masters degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery from UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. He subsequently spent 10 years on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin where he served as the Fellowship Director for the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship and then the Program Director for the General Surgery Residency. He has an active clinical practice in hernia, bariatric, and benign foregut surgery and his research interests are in surgical education and outcomes in hernia surgery. He is currently a board member in SAGES, the American Hernia Society, and the Fellowship Council.
During his time as program director at the University of Wisconsin he was responsible for EPA implementation during the 2018-2020 American Board of Surgery EPA pilot study. After successful implementation of EPAs into the training program he has stayed involved in the EPA project as the Chair of the ABS Best Practices Committee and Co-Chair of the Faculty/Resident Development Committee. He has extensive speaking experience on topics involving surgical education and minimally invasive surgery.
