Julie Childs, MSN, RN, RNC-EFM
Julie Childs is the Clinical Nurse Educator for Inova Fairfax Labor and Delivery, High Risk Perinatal, OB Emergency Department, and Antenatal Testing Center. Prior to becoming the Clinical Nurse Educator, she was a certified Register Nurse IV for over 16 years at Level III and IV hospitals across the country in various leadership roles such as Charge Nurse, Chair of Education Committee, Mentor, and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider instructor-trainer. Julie has a passion for teaching, continuing educational development, and enhancing nursing education and professional practice while empowering the Inova value of ONE TEAM in response to increasingly acute obstetrical patient populations. In addition to partnering with Emily Marko, MD to teach multidisciplinary POETS courses, Julie coordinates and leads OB emergency drills across Fairfax campus in the ICUs and EDs to ensure all nurses and team members are educated and prepared for obstetric emergencies. Julie also currently chairs the Communication Collaboration Committee at Inova Fairfax to facilitate improvements in interdisciplinary communication and reinforcing TeamStepps concepts taught in POETS.
Julie earned her BSN, Magna Cum Laude, from George Mason University, and her MSN with High Distinction from Chamberlain University.
