Giles Peek, FELSO, is Professor of Surgery & Pediatrics at the University of Florida. He has been fascinated by ECMO since 1994. His thesis investigated the use of different biomaterials during extracorporeal life support. He served as PI of the CESAR trial, on the ELSO steering committee (1999-2019), as the inaugural chair of EuroELSO (2011-2014) and is a member of the ELSO Guidelines and Membership Sub-Committee, the Neonatal and Pediatric Foundations Development Group and Editor of the ELSO Bedside Guide. He is married with three children and three grandchildren. For relaxation he enjoys ascending and descending mountains.
