Dr. Sabina Sandhu is a board-certified physician in hospice and palliative medicine and internal medicine. She provides comprehensive outpatient palliative care at Inova Schar Cancer Institute, focusing on symptom management, advance care planning and enhancing quality of life for individuals with cancer. She joined Inova in 2025 and has been practicing since 2014.

Before specializing in palliative care, Dr. Sandhu spent over four years delivering primary care and consultative services, with a strong focus on geriatric medicine. Her background in managing complex chronic conditions in older adults continues to inform her holistic, patient-centered approach to serious illness care. 

She completed her fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at The George Washington University and served as Chief Resident during her internal medicine training at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Her diverse clinical experience spans home-based care, value-based care delivery and underserved populations across multiple states. 

Dr. Sandhu has presented nationally on topics such as moral distress, trauma-informed care and cultural dimensions of medical decision-making. She is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, medical education and improving access to high-quality, compassionate care. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sandhu enjoys painting, traveling and spending time with loved ones, especially family game nights.
