Chi An "Andy" Liu, M.D.

Chi An "Andy" Liu, M.D., is a pediatric intensivist and assistant professor of Pediatrics at MedStar Geogetown University Hospital. His primary research interest is in medical decision-making in the ICU. He is particularly interested in how providers can help parents make difficult decisions such as tracheostomy, transplant, and withdrawal of life-sustaining therapy. He is also passionate about medical education - he facilitates mock codes for residents and teaches them how to present patients at rapid responses.
Born and raised in Taiwan, with a detour for high school in Australia, Andy moved to the United States for higher education at Davidson College. He then went to graduate school for accounting and briefly worked as an accountant before becoming a doctor. He graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 2017 pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina in 2020, pediatric critical care fellowship at Vanderbilt University in 2023. He returned to the University of North Carolina for additional training in hospice and palliative medicine. He joined Georgetown's PICU faculty in the fall of 2024.
