Sharon Henry, MD, FACS

Dr. Sharon Henry is the Anne Scalea Professor of Trauma Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and an attending surgeon at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. A recognized authority in complex wound management, Dr. Henry has served as the Chief of the Division of Wound Healing and Metabolism since 2000, where she leads a multidisciplinary team caring for patients with complex soft tissue infections and defects.
Her research interests focus on necrotizing soft tissue infections, complex wound management, and trauma outcomes. A dedicated leader in trauma education, she currently serves on the steering committee for the ATLS 11th edition revision and is a past chair of both the national and international ATLS subcommittees.
Dr. Henry is a Certified Wound Specialist Physician and currently serves on the Board of Managers for the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery. In addition to her clinical expertise, she holds significant leadership positions in the surgical community, currently serving as the President of the Panamerican Trauma Society and the First Vice President-Elect of the American College of Surgeons.
