Dr. Dan Avstreih has served as everything from EMT to EMS Supervisor to flight physician in his over 25 years in EMS.  Since 2010, he has served as Associate Operational Medical Director Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Avstreih is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is sub-specialty board certified in Emergency Medicine Services by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  He holds academic appointments at University of Virginia and George Washington University, has numerous peer-reviewed publications and was the recipient of prestigious Commonwealth of Virginia Governor’s Award 2018.  A strong proponent of the collaborative success in the emergency care continuum, he has been a driving force behind regional successes such as prehospital blood and the “EMS Week PLUS” cadaver lab symposium.
