Bryan Bassig

Bryan Bassig, PhD, MPH is an epidemiologist with specialized training in cancer and molecular epidemiology, data analytics, and environmental health science. He is currently the Director of the Cancer Prevention Research Program at the Saville Cancer Screening and Prevention Center within the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, collaborating closely with Principal Investigators and clinical researchers in the center to design and implement studies focused on cancer prevention and early detection. He has a particular interest in evaluating innovative and emerging tools and methods for cancer screening in populations with high-risk occupational and environmental exposures as well as health disparities research. Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Bassig worked as a research epidemiologist for over a decade in the federal government at the National Center for Health Statistics and the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, National Cancer Institute, where he led or co-authored >120 publications with international collaborators focused on the etiology of lung cancer in never-smokers and lymphohematopoietic malignancies, the early biologic effects of occupational exposures, and genetic susceptibility to cancer. Dr. Bassig earned a PhD in Cancer Epidemiology and Environmental Health Science and a MPH in Chronic Disease Epidemiology from Yale University.
