Program Description
Provide an opportunity to learn from transplant experts regarding the care of heart, lung, kidney, and multi-organ transplants from evaluation to life-long management; allow transplant professionals to highlight their work and research within the multidisciplinary team to optimize and improve the care of this complex patient population
Target Audience
This activity is intended for providers in all specialties. Everyone is invited to attendee.
Learning Objectives
- Identify signs, symptoms and risk factors associated with end stage heart, lung, and kidney diseases to facilitate timely referral of patients for thoracic and abdominal organ transplantation
- Apply the current indications/contraindications and criteria for referral and listing of potential thoracic and abdominal organ transplant recipients
- Describe the multidisciplinary approach to identification and work up of organ transplant recipients including diagnostic testing, assessment by different specialties and ancillary services, committee discussions
- List the different types of organ transplantation with their perioperative management.
- Discuss the postoperative management of thoracic and abdominal organ transplant candidates.
