As such, patient outcomes vary by center and location. The goal of this conference is to deliver a platform of information delivery that standardizes this knowledge base both internally and externally. INOVA's ECMO program has exponentially grown in the past 5 years. Since our last symposium in 2022 our ECMO physician, advanced practice provider,and nursing staff has doubled in size. In addition, our program has gained international recognition for excellence based on our structure and outcomes. While the ECMO clinicians and nursing staff have undergone the basic training offered at our last symposium, they have not been taught the more advanced applications and management strategies expected at a regional referral center. In addition, evidence-based ECMO practice is continuously evolving and the INOVA clinicians and nurses are not up-to-date on current applications, management strategies, and new technologies surrounding ECMO. Without maintaining this ongoing education we are unable to provide the standardized current best-practice ECMO care that is expected of a regional leader. Furthermore, the regional referral centers have expressed a desire to expand their knowledge surrounding INOVA's ECMO care in order to improve referral practices, which is why we are offering this opportunity externally.
