2024 DEI Learning Journey: Engaging in Allyship

Inova Health System is dedicated to achieving health equity by eliminating health disparities and achieving optimal health for all. In this DEI Learning Journey, learners will explore the role and responsibility they have in fostering an inclusive culture at Inova by embracing the differences we see in our teams, addressing everyday acts of exclusion, reducing implicit bias, and supporting others as an ally.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe common terms and concepts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Examine how individuals' cultural lens shapes their preferences, perspectives, and experiences
  • Develop a fact-focused approach to mitigate bias by recognizing it and building skills to call it out with others
  • Apply strategies to intervene when witnessing microaggressions, reduce frictions and missteps with team members, and be an effective ally
