Dr. Nitin K. Sardana, MD is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internal medicine physician based in Alexandria, Virginia, recognized for his clinical expertise in digestive health, academic leadership, and public health communication. Born in Maryland, he began his academic journey at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology. He subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Sardana completed his rigorous postgraduate medical training at the George Washington University School of Medicine, where he finished his internal medicine residency and served as Chief Resident, earning both the Resident of the Year and ICU Resident of the Year awards. He went on to serve as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at George Washington University—where he was honored as the Internal Medicine Attending of the Year—before completing a specialized fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Allegheny General Hospital.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Sardana has held prominent clinical and leadership roles across major regional healthcare networks. He spent several years as a gastroenterologist with Gastro Health before expanding his leadership footprint as the Site Director for Gastroenterology at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. In addition to maintaining affiliations with the UM Charles Regional Medical Center, he serves patients across Northern Virginia within the Inova Health System, caring for individuals at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Alexandria Hospital, with his primary outpatient clinical hub located in Springfield.

Dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Sardana specializes in the comprehensive management of complex digestive conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, chronic constipation, and intestinal ulcers.
